SAINT JOHN’S is a college preparatory, nonsectarian, English Instruction, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school has an enrollment of approximately 740 students from Pre Pre-kinder to grade twelve. Eighty two percent come from Hispanic backgrounds, seven percent from diverse backgrounds and eleven percent from the continental United States. The school is composed of the Early Childhood Program (PPK – 1st), Upper Elementary (2nd – 6th) and Secondary (7th – 12th).
The mission of Saint John’s School is to ensure that all of our students develop a passion for learning, build strength of character, and contribute compassionately as independent thinking members of society, all within a learning environment committed to academic excellence.
The Saint John’s School SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM offers qualified secondary school prospective students with limited financial resources the opportunity to enrich their lives while sharing abilities, talents, and aspirations with the Saint John's School community. The scholarship students must demonstrate a passion for learning and meet the academic and disciplinary requirements of Saint John’s School, as well as, those set forth in the scholarship agreement.
Parents are expected to perform a supporting role in helping the student achieve and maintain the scholarship requirements and contribute to the enrichment of the school community. Scholarship recipients and their parents are expected to be active in supporting the Scholarship Program in its efforts each year to locate the best possible and most deserving candidates for future scholarship awards; and to help such future scholarship recipients and their parents with their transition and integration into the Saint John’s School community.
Scholarship recipients are also required to be actively involved in Saint John’s School’s community service programs. In this way, scholarship recipients can help to multiply, within the greater Puerto Rico community, the benefits which the Scholarship Program is intended to offer. It is hoped that Scholarship recipients will become the future leaders of Puerto Rico and will continue, throughout their lifetime, to be involved actively in confronting the challenges and helping to improve the social conditions of Puerto Rico.
