Hitting the Polls for a Sweet Vote!

Our 2nd graders recently experienced democracy in action—cookie style!
After weeks of campaigning, making persuasive speeches, and designing posters, they took to the polls to vote for their favorite cookie in a classroom election. The campaign trail was full of energy as students practiced public speaking, rallied support, and convinced their younger peers -kindergartners and first graders- to vote for their cookie candidate. Even Early Childhood Principal Mrs. Maika joined the fun, supporting our young voters! In the end, Oreo cookies narrowly won!

This hands-on lesson gave our little Hurricanes a taste of democracy, learning to influence others, express their opinions, and respect the views of others. A big shoutout to our future leaders!
